Dear Neighbors,
This notice is from Police Commissioner
Raymond W. Kelly’s Liaison Unit
The NYPD Youth Services Section will be accepting applications for the NYPD Youth Police Academy 2012 now through June 22, 2012. For over 15 years, the Summer Youth Academy has provided our youth with a unique opportunity to interact with law enforcement professionals. The program is for city youths between the ages of 10 and 16 and is held in seven Academies throughout the City. The program takes place five days a week for six weeks during the summer, culminating in a graduation ceremony at One Police Plaza featuring Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly. Police Officers conduct life skills and law enforcement classes consisting of lectures, role-plays and demonstrations. Participants engage in military drills, similar to what recruits at the Police Academy experience, and take field trips to police facilities.
