FGPC Halloween Festival
12 noon - 3pm

Bring you family, tell your friends!!! Hundreds of children will be treated to hay rides, games, sack races, face painting, stilt-walkers, entertainers and free pumpkins to decorate - and it’s all FREE. Plus there will be a costume parade and spooky cemetery with such luminaries in residence as “Will B. Back” and “R U Next”.

Please join A.R.T/NY this Saturday for their 10th Annual Free Halloween show for kids here at South Oxford Space.

We are so excited that Freestyle Repertory Theatre is performing their hilarious brand of improv comedy for us this year. They are so funny and really engage the audience in a way that is lots of fun for everyone.

Show starts at 3:30pm SHARP and goody bags are given away to all kids in attendance. Wear your costumes (I will be wearing mine). See you Saturday!

Clinton Hill Halloween Walk

All Ghouls and Goblins gather at the Pratt-Clinton Hill Community Garden at the corner of DeKalb Avenue and Hall Street.

It’s that time of year again for the Society for Clinton Hill’s 17th Annual Halloween Walk.

All costumed Trick-or-Treaters uo to age 12 invited! The Parade Route winds through the Neighborhood. Maps to the most generous homes will be provided. Parents please accompany your children.

Hispanic Heritage Festival

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Brooklyn Music School hosts a cultural celebration of folklore, dance and music from six Latin American and Caribbean nations on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16 at 7:00pm at the Brooklyn Music Playhouse Theatre located on 126 Saint Felix Street in Brooklyn.
Share the richness and diversity of Hispanic music, dance and folklore at The Hispanic Heritage Festival.

A young-people’s workshop on rhythm, brass bands, and Brooklyn’s place in American Music History

Members of Jeff Newell’s nationally acclaimed New-Trad Octet introduce young people to the sound and rhythm of brass band traditions from Africa and the Americas, featuring Haitian-influenced Sousa marches and much more. Targeted for children four to twelve years of age, activities will include playing horns and percussion along with movement. No previous experience is required and all equipment will be provided. Adults - $10, Children (17 & under) - $5

Jeff Newell’s nationally acclaimed New-Trad Octet pays tribute to Brooklyn’s place in American music history, featuring locally-grown music that has influenced the world. Along with marches by John Philip Sousa-played Haitian “Kompa” style-they’ll be playing “Hymn Pan Alley,” an exciting suite of hymns from Fort Greene-based composers which features jazz, mambo, and zydeco rhythms.
