A big thank you to everyone who helped make the Holiday Dinner raffle such a success.
This year we were able to purchase 109 $20 gift cards.year, as well as dropping off many bags of food at two of our local food pantries, Queen of all Saints and Hanson Place Campaign Against Hunger.
This year, we distributed through Scared Heart Church, Church of St. Thomas and St. Edward, Ft Greene SNAP’s Senior Caregivers Program, and Young Mothers Group, Atlantic Terminal Senior Center and the Hanson Place Campaign Against Hunger.
To say that the gift cards were warmly received is an understatement. Funding at local soup kitchens is at an all time low, and all salaries were discontinued in early December. The Queen of All Saints Food Pantry lost its manager to budget cuts, and could not even manage the distribution of the gift cards that I offered. It is a rough time to be hungry in NY.
