Next FGA General Meeting - February 23, 2009 - 7:30PM

The Fort Greene Association is proud to announce its next Open Meeting entitled:

CHART YOUR COURSE
Navigate the waters of Insurance and Public Schools
The meeting is to be held in the meeting room of Lafayette Avenue Presbyterian Church, 85 South Oxford Street on Monday, February 23rd, 2009 at 7:30PM with a “Meet your Neighbor Mixer” starting at 7PM. Light refreshments will be served.
On the agenda-
INSURANCE:
What you should know about property insurance but were afraid to ask.
Experts from property insurance organizations specializing in urban and historic districts will give presentations and answer questions about insuring you co-op, condo or brownstone. Total structures as well as individual units, personal property such as art work and antiquities, renters, and also liability insurance, will be covered. Bring your insurance policy with you to get a consultation.
Patricia Batih from MacKoul Associates along with Moira Gettens of National Trust Insurance Services, an insurance company owned by National Preservation Trust, will give presentations helping you tailor your needs.
PUBLIC SCHOOLS:
Joyce Szuflita, of NYC School Help, will speak on “What it means to be a parent in the NYC school system, and the benefits and challenges of living in District 13.”
Joyce will give an overview of what a NYC public school education means for parents in practical terms, including tips on resources, where to go for help and 5 helpful hints to keep from turning prematurely grey.
Joyce Szuflita, NYC School Help, consults with parents to navigate the school search, nursery school through high school, public and private. She has been quoted in the NY Times, Time Out NY Kids, NY Family/Brooklyn Magazine, and she blogs regularly for www.achildgrowsinbrooklyn.com and www.mysidewalkchalk.blogspot.com
