Community Board 2 News: Barclays Center Liquor License Review

Barclays Center Liquor License Review

Community Boards 2 and 6 have individually received the statutorily required 30-day notice (below) stating Levy Premium Foodservice LP and Brooklyn Events Center, LLC intend to apply for a liquor license for the Barclays Center, at the nominal address of 620 Atlantic Avenue. The pending application will be for the sole license to serve liquor, wine and beer at the arena currently under construction on the “superblock” bounded by Atlantic, Flatbush and Sixth avenues.

The Barclays Center straddles the boundary between Community Districts 2 and 6. Accordingly, the two community boards will hold a joint meeting at the date, time and location indicated below.

This application was incorrectly listed on the agenda for the April 4, 2012 meeting of the Health, Environment and Social Services Committee of Community Board 2. This application will not be reviewed at today’s committee meeting.

The joint meeting of the Health, Environment and Social Services Committee of Community Board 2 and the Permits and Licenses Committee of Community Board 6 for the review of this pending liquor license application will be held as follows:

6:30 pm, Tuesday, April 10, 2012
Auditorium, 78th Precinct, New York Police Department
65 Sixth Avenue, between Bergen and Dean streets

Representatives of the applicant, the arena operator and the New York Police Department will be present at the meeting. Although not a public hearing, the public will have the opportunity to ask questions and comment.

In addition to the notifications sent by Community Boards 2 and 6, Forest City Ratner Companies (FCRC)—the developer of the arena—will distribute notices about the meeting. For more information about this application, please contact FCRC at 718-923-8690.
