Community Board 2 (CB2) will hold the following meetings this week, all of which are scheduled for 6:00 PM.
All committee meetings of Community Board 2 begin with the approval of the agenda and introduction of the committee officers. The meetings conclude with the approval of the previous month’s meeting minutes, a chairperson’s report, other business and a community forum during which the public may speak.

Transportation and Public Committee
Tuesday, March 20

Christopher Hrones, the Downtown Brooklyn transportation coordinator for the Department of Transportation (DOT), will speak about two public plazas planned in Community District 2. Mr. Hrones will present the design for the temporary materials plaza to be created at Fowler Square. He will also provide an update on Fox Square, where a Five Guys Burgers and Fries withdrew a sidewalk café application in the face of a planned plaza there. The Fox Square plaza was originally intended to be built as part of the Flatbush Avenue Streetscape Project.

Hemalee Patel, transportation committee chairperson, will lead a discussion to clarify whether the community board’s established co-naming submission requirements are fixed or waivable. The chairperson’s report will also include review of the most recent CompStat reports for the 84th and 88th precincts and other topics as introduced.

Land Use Committee

The design of Phase 1 of City Point, approximately 50,000 square feet of retail on Albee Square, off of the Fulton Mall, was also reviewed by CB2 and the PDC.

Tom Montvel-Cohen, representing the developers of City Point, will present the design of the second phase of that mixed-use project. City Point is being built on City-owned land and therefore the project design is subject to review by the Public Design Commission (PDC), formerly known at the Art Commission.

The committee will also review the following Landmarks Preservation Commission (LPC) applications:
- 368 Adelphi Street – Fort Greene Historic District (PDF) – Application is to replace the iron railings on the stoop.
- 220 Adelphi Street – Fort Greene Historic District (PDF) – Application is to extend the existing full-width, rear-yard extension on the garden and parlor floors by an additional depth of 9 feet, 11 inches.
