Historic Fort Greene Brooklyn

Chair’s Notes

Fort Greeners,

Today we live in a high speed world. Messages are delivered at nearly the speed of light but are we more connected?

Email, Blogs, Tweets, Fans, QRC, IM -do they really connect, or is your Grandmother LOL?

The Fort Greene Association is not your Grandmother’s FGA (no offence Grandma). Today we bring to you all of the speed of the 21st century but we still hold to heart the power of the human connection.

On Monday evening you’ll have a chance to exercise your analog side by attending our first meeting of the season. FGA meetings are a place to share some drink and food with your neighbors, some you know and others you will get to know, as you participate in growing and guiding your neighborhood.

Now some of you might say that the mouthful of a topic “Employment & Entrepreneurial Opportunities Available in and Around Fort Greene” is of no importance to me but that is where I have to differ. You see the businesses we have in our neighborhood are a reflection of the neighborhood. This is your chance to suggest to future local business owners the kind of business you would like to see in your neighborhood, find out about job opportunities for your children or your neighbor’s children, comment on the programs the FGA is running throughout the neighborhood, and to just have fun.

So come on out Monday evening, 7PM at Bishop Loughlin High School to connect, the analog way.

Another connection- the FGA’s Grants Committee kindly asks you to bring nonperishable food items to be donated to Queen of All Saints Food Pantry who has asked the FGA for help.

Don’t forget to RSVP to [email protected], this helps us make sure we have enough plates and cups. If you forget, no worries, my Grandmother always told me to be prepared for extra guests.

I hope to see you there.

Paul Palazzo - FGA Chairperson
